Designed for leatherworkers, designers, and studios, it’s a flexible way to work with HOWE’s signature upholstery leather without committing to full hides.

Each box is packed from surplus materials returned from HOWE’s workshops, so every selection is genuinely unique.

Why HOWE goatskin leather?

HOWE goatskin leather keeps its natural, uncorrected grain, with visible spine lines, scars, and colour variations that tell the story of each hide. This characterful surface is rare in modern production, where grain is often printed over and standardised.

Tanned and finished using traditional methods in a family-run tannery in Southern India, the leather is durable yet supple, ideal for fine upholstery, bags, and long-lasting accessories. Goatskin absorbs colour beautifully, giving rise to rich jewel tones and softer shades that develop patina with use.

What’s inside the box?

Inside the box you’ll get a curated mix of HOWE goatskin and other reclaimed leather offcuts in usable sizes: around 3 pieces in the A4–A3 range, 3 pieces in the A6–A5 range, plus smaller offcuts for detailing, patchwork, and experiments.

All leather originates from HOWE’s furniture production; larger offcuts are reserved for future pieces, while smaller cuts are set aside for this box. Exact colours, finishes, and shapes vary depending on the surplus available when your box is packed, so no two boxes are the same.

What can you use it for?

This leather is used for bags and accessories, upholstery details, cushions, prototypes, repairs, patchwork, and studio experiments, wherever smaller pieces of high-quality goatskin are ideal. All leather in this box is reclaimed surplus - material saved from waste and given a second life. By reusing deadstock and offcuts from HOWE’s production, the Inspiration Box supports a more circular approach to design and extends the lifespan of premium leather.
